Noteworthy Blog Posts (#5)

Long time ago since I did one of these posts, huh? But due to the lack of these posts I have a long list of various stuff I've found on the Internet that I want to share with you guys!

I'm currently really hooked up on dystropians with zombie apocalypses. I've recently read Enclave by Ann Aguirre and the short story Zombicorns by John Green (can be downloaded for free HERE) and I have a lot of zombie apocalypse novels waiting to be read, like Feed by Mira Grant and The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan. All of those are fiction, but what if a zombie apocalypse would happen in real life? This article discusses how a zombie virus would be made, how to fight back and why we study zombies.

Sarah Curran-Ross, the author of The Organ Grinder, wrote a guest post about female characters and their "thoughness" on the blog Lost For Words.

Being a new blogger can be hard. I still consider myself a fairly new blogger, but I am slowly getting into the community, learning how to balance the blog with my private life and finding my own voice. If you're thinking about creating a blog, check out these tips from Tynga at Tyngas reivews (thought the posts is a guest post and posted on New Books for New Bloggers)

Write book. Add water. Grow dollars? Nope. That not how it is. At least not for Lauren DeStefano, the author of Wither. You can read about her journey here.

Noteworthy Blog Posts (4)

Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen? Yay or ney? We all have our opinions. Personally, I don't like it. She's way to old. If they make movies out of all three books it can take up to five years before all of them are done. Maybe even longer. And a 25-year-old playing 16-year-old Katniss? Don't like it. You can read a guest post, written by J. Sciancalepore, author of The War On Destiny, posted on the blog YAreads, HERE! He talks about his opinions and some pros and cons.

Another guest post! Melina from Reading Vacation has had lots of guest posts these last weeks. One of my favorites, probably because I'm a sucker for dystropian novels, is the one by Alex from Electrifying Reviews.

E-books, e-books. Lalalalalaa. Of course I have to tell you about a post titled E-book Readin'. Cause I'm cool like that. (Yeah. I've told you about so many different e-book posts that I don't longer know what to tell you about them.)

I'm thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis jealous of the teens that get to participate in GreenBeanTeenQueen's Read-A-Thon that she hosts at her library. I wish some of the librarians here in Stockholm reads her blog and decides to host one here as well! Please librarians, please?

Noteworthy blog posts (#3)

Hello! I'm here again with a Noteworthy Blog Posts post and five new blog posts from different bloggers I think you should read. It was a long time ago I made on of these, so I decided on just a few really good I'd like to share with you. You've maybe read them, maybe not.

Dystropia really is the big trend this year. And I'm love it, as you may know. A dew weeks ago Liz at Consumed by Books wrote a guest post on here. I like it. Go and read it.

In your dystropian novels you, of course, need to have some awesome new vocabulary. Are you writing a dystropian novel? Or are you just interested in how to come up with new cool words? Then check out this post with a few great tips.

And yes, of course a post about eBooks. Or more of a article about wether 2011 will be the year of the eBooks or not. Read it here.

Veronica Roth, the author of Divergent (I'm so excited for this book, only 59 days left till the release!) has written a blog post about sequels.

And the last post is another by a author. Ally Condie! It's just a beautiful post about her writing. She's done it for eight years now. Congrats!

Noteworthy blog posts (2)

Hello, it's me, with another Noteworthy Blog Posts post again. Sharing some posts I've read and really liked. This time, I chose five different posts to share with you guys this time, hope you enjoy!

An awesome post about not finishing books by Word for Teens. I don't usually quit book, I want to give them a chance to grow better. Sometimes I'm really happy that I finished it (Like Syren by Angie Sage, hated the first 200 pages and it took me more than two weeks to get through them. Seriously. But then the last 400ish pages of the book were A M A Z I N G!!) and sometimes I just think it was a waste of time. The last book I didn't finish was And Another Thing by Eoin Colfer, I just couldn't bare the style of the writing. But I'm having a really hard time deciding which Goodreads shelf it should be on .. I haven't finished it, so it shouldn't be on read. Right?

Names in books are important. I've actually picked up books or passed down them just because of the name of the main character. I'm a sucker for characters with the same name as I, Olivia. (Btw, this year there will be many book releases with characters named Olivia. Unusually much.) A great post about character names by Lisa Desproches.

No NBP (yes, that's the shortening of Noteworthy Blog Posts) is complete without an e-reader post, right? An actually really good one by Bree Meets Books.

I myself don't like book blogs that only consist of memes and a couple of reviews every now and then. I participate in two memes, Booking Through Thursday and IMM. That's enough for my blog, though I don't mind blogs doing more memes than that if they have a lot other content than just that. If you want to read a good blog post with thought on memes, you can go to Maggie's Bookshelf.

You don't read?...do you? by Jess Hearts Books. I've never met people who are surprised by me reading books. In school I always walk around with a book, even if I don't get to read at the class I'm going to. I don't know why, I just do. And it's not like I don't have any friends or anything and sit alone reading at every break (although I wouldn't mind that). And when I meet new people it usually comes up in some point of our conversations. So everybody know that I read. People are more surprised by my playing video games. Since I'm not walking around with my wii or playstation 3 games in school, ha!

Noteworthy blog posts (1)

I love reading book blogs. Especially "special-posts" (Sorry, I don't have a better word for it). Posts that aren't reviews, memes, features etc. Just unique, one time posts about thoughta, tips and other fun things. And I thought that I would start "collecting" these posts on by blog. So you guys can find good blog posts and I can come back and reread my favorites. And no, this won't be one post that will be updated whenever I find a new post I'd like to share. I'll write new posts once in a while.

Series vs Standalones an interesting post by Bookwormbouleward.

Thoughts on: e-books v. books by Word for Teens. I appreciate posts about e-books a lot. I'm myself wondering about whether I should buy an e-reader or not. So I want other peoples opinion. I'd like to have one, but I think I would miss having physical copies in my bookshelf. So I would probably end up buying real life copies, and owning both an e-book copy and a "real" one. Which would not do good for my book buying economy. If you know about any other e-book posts please comment with a link! Or tell me what you think about your e-reader if you have one :)

10 signs of book  addiction by the Story Siren. I like this one a lot. Though it's sad to now have it on paper, I am a book addict. Number 8 is the one that describes me the best. Mom: "Olivia, it's time for the christmas meal now! Everybody are waiting for you!" Me: "Wait! Just let me finish these last 100 pages, I'll be there soon!"

BEA budget. One from The Story Siren and another from Wastepaper prose. Though I'm obviously not going to BEA, I like the tips in these posts. And they doesn't fit for only BEA, the tips can be used to other traveling as well!

Love, Olivia
