Before I started reading this book, I had no idea what it was about. The back of the book only gives us a vague explanation of what it is about, and after some research I only knew that it was either fantasy, contemporary or historical fiction. When I'd finished the book, I understood that it was a brilliant mix of them all.

It tells the story about a man, who hasn't had the best life. He gets really bad burn injuries in a car accident, and has to stay in the hospital for months. There he meets the mysterious Marianne Engel, who tells him that they were lovers in the 14th century, and that she has been waiting to meet him again for 700 years.

The plot was very original. We follow the unnamed main character as he recovers from his injuries, but we get to hear many fantastic stories along the way. Marianne has many tales to tell about her friends from different time periods. Including the story about her and the main character in their first life together. I really liked reading these beautiful love stories, and loved Marianne as a character. You really have to decide for yourself whether you think she really tells the truth about her long life or if she's just some psychotic woman with schizophrenia.

The Gargoyle isn't a book for everyone though. It was more of a very slow paced feel-good love story than an action filled fantasy. Some people might not like it, and will only find it weird and boring. But I loved it, and felt like the pace, the stories and the characters made it a interesting, and almost magical, read.

Tower of Parlen Min opens up with a strong and mysterious prologue. A boy is sitting on a bus in the middle of the night. He's covered in blood, wearing other people's clothes and can't remember anything. Instatntly thousands of questions pop into my mind. These are the kinds of prologues I love. Exciting, mysterious and making you want to know everything about the characters and their story.

In the first chapter we get to know the boy when he has yet to experience the bus scene. His name is Ves Asirin, he's 11 years old, lives in an orphanage and has a very complex memory loss disorder. He gets to visit the famous inventor Jacobius Trent and participate in a competition called the Sword Challenge.

I really enjoyed this book. It has everything I love, fantasy creatures, puzzles, plot twists, actionfilled scenes and a lot of questions that you're dying to know the answers to.

I loved the idea of Ves' scrapbook that he filled with scetches and pictures of things and people to remember them. You were introduced to a lot of different people at the same time, but it was easy to keep track of just the most important ones. I adored Ves' friend Tammi, who nobody really liked because they thought that she's a witch. And the twins Andy and Anry we're so much fun.

The ending was epic with lots of plot twists and chocking answers on lots of questions. And it ends with a wonderful cliffhanger that leaves you craving the next book.

Quirky, unique and oh so funny. That's how I would describe Prelude to a Hero. This book is an intruduction to the awesome tale in which an awkward boy has to save the blue residents of a far away planet from evil. This debut novel is a epic story that will leave you craving for more.

The writing in Prelude to a Hero was incredible. The narrating and inner thoughts of Wendell (the main character) were really amusing. You know that awkward guy who never tries to be funny, but everything he does and says just becomes hilarious? Wendell is that person.

Now, for some reason the first chapter was really hard for me to get trough. I couldn't get a grasp on who the characters were and what was happening. I don't know if it was becuase I wasn't in a reading mood or something. But the next chapter, the one in which Wendell is introduced, drew me into the story and made me wanting to read more. So if you have a hard time geting through the first chapter, please don't stop reading. Because if you do, I'll feel sorry for you since you've missed a books this wonderful.

Yeah, this was a paranormal type book about a boy and a girl who has seen each other in their dreams, meet each other, instantly fall in love and learn that their relationship is impossible. A book that I usually wouldn't like that much. But I loved Beautiful Creatues! It has so much more than "typical paranormal romances" that made this novel one of a kind. That made it magical. 

The small town Gatlin was a perfect setting for the story, a place that Stohl and Garcia described perfectly. All the residents of the town were crazy about the Civil War, and the plot had a lot of important connections to some incidents that happened during the Civil War. The setting and all the references to the war were perfect for the story and added on to the eerie and mysterious feeling this novel had.

The writing was beautiful and I loved all the poems and song text that were woven into the story. The characters were three dimensional and a lot of them had deep secrets that were revealed throughout the book. And god, all the magic! Wow!

This novel is so dark, eerie and sad. But still so beautiful, magical and amazing! I has hooked from the first page and loved every single one after that.

5 good Fantasy series

I've wanted to have some special post thingie here on my blog, so that I don't just post reviews of books. I've been thinking about what I should do, what would be my thing. Many bloggers have weekly memes on their blog. A few examples I've seen are posts about which book covers they love, what books they can't wait to read, books that will be released that week, ask [insert name here]  . So I wanted to come up with my own thing. And I did. I now present you: "5 good"!!

Maybe two times a month or every week I'll do posts telling about five good books or series in a certain genre, by an specific author or that just have something else in common. I haven't found these kind of post , so I hope nobody does them. It feels like everybody are concentrating on new books and new releases, so I wanted to focus on a little older books.

I'm sorry for this long introduction. And I'll now show my five favorite fantasy series.

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Of course I have to include the Harry Potter books into this list. They're some of the most awesome books out there, and my first ever book obsession. They've enchanted me, as well as many millions of people around the world. I love everything about these books, the writing is awesome, the characters are really alive, the plots are breathtaking and the setting's literally magical. If you haven't read them , what are you waiting for?!

The Inheritance Cycle by Cristopher Paolini


I love dragons. They're such strong, magical and mysterious creatures. The Eragon books have gotten a lot of crap, but I can't see why. Sure, Brisingr was slow in the beginning, but after a few hundred pages, whoa! I'm waiting for the fourth and last book and hope it to be released soon!

His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman


My absolute favorite fantasy books (after Harry Potter of course). I feel that I really can relate to Lyra. I love the world(s) this story takes place. All of the three books are centered around a thing called dust, and they are wonderfully plotted and developed. And who wouldn't want to have a cute little animal dæmon to have with you all the time?

Septimus Heap by Angie Sage


I think these books are ment for younger children, but I still love them. They're wonderfully written and the magical world is so amazing! I recommend these to everyone, especially fantasy lovers. I know they might seem a little childish (with lots of pictures in them) but they're really good!

Percy Jackson and The Olympians by Rick Riordian

I'm very interested in greek mythology, so I like these books a lot. I've only read the two first books. But I own the third as well and intend to read it as soon as possible. The plots in these books are thrilling and so much happens! It's very fast paced. I remember two battles taking place in the 50 first pages in The Sea of Monsters!
