Well, I usually can't resist reading the last sentences in a book. Which is really bad since those sentences can spoil the whole book for you. But I'm trying to stop doing it. I hope I can stop doing it.

Booking Through Thursday - Romantic

What's the most romantic book you've ever read? 


(Mind you, I don't mean the hard-core stuff you hide in plain wrappers under your mattress. I mean True Love, Romance, deeply emotional, heart-tugging, and that stuff.)


And secondly, did you like it? Is it your usual kind of reading, or did it take you by surprise?


I don't read much romance novels. I like them, but they're usually not my favorite read. But I do read a lot of paranormal romance, so my lame answer for this question has to be Twilight. I know, lame.

Btw, I ordered Anna and The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins a few days ago, and that one's kind of romantic, right? :)

Booking Through Thursday - Ground Floor

There’s something wonderful about getting in on the ground floor of an author’s career–about being one of the first people to read and admire them, before they became famous best-sellers.

Which authors have you been lucky enough to discover at the very beginning of their careers?

And, if you’ve never had that chance, which author do you WISH you’d been able to discover at the very beginning?

Unfortunately, I haven't had the luck to discover any authors at the beginnings of their careers, none that I can think of anyway. Before I got into the internet book community I usually bought books that were really big and bought the whole series of it when the last book was released. Why, I don't know. But I think it was because when I knew all the books in the series has gotten praise I would love it as well. And I wouldn't have to wait for the sequel.

But one author I'd really like to have discovered in the beginning is J.K. Rowling. The author of the Harry Potter books, you probably know who I am talking about. I was about six years old when my dad and I started to read Harry Potter together as a bed time story, it was in 2001. Then we read the first four books together and then when the fifth was translated into swedish I read that one by myself. And all the three last books as well. Already by that time the books were my all time favorites, but I was too young to become a fan girl. 

So I think that's what this is about. I would have liked to be a little older when the books were released so I could get more involved. (I was barely one year when the first one came out, lol). I would want to have been there in the beginning, be craving for the next book to come out, be excited about the movies (one left, yay!), be involved in the online communities and be camping outside a bookstore until midnight when they released the last Harry Potter book! Can't someone write a series that become as loved and gets a following as big as the Harry Potter books, just so I can experience all this, please?

Even I read things other than books from time to time … like, Magazines! What magazines/journals do you read?

My two top magazines that I read every edition of, I'd have to say is a finnish teen magazine called Demi and a swedish science magazine called Illustrerad Vetenskap (what can I say, I'm a nerd). Since I don't read any finnish books, I try to uphold my finnish skills by reading Demi (doesn't mean anything, it's just a name). And, as I said, I'm a big nerd and a sucker for chemistry, physics and technology I read Illustrerad Vetenskap (which means illustrated science, lol).

I also a few times a year buy single copies of Vogue US, InStyle UK or Elle UK. I love fashion. But these magazines cost about as much as a paperback book does here in Sweden (about $16. I know, It's crazy) so I try to cut back on these magazines and use the money on books instead.

And I have a bad habit of sometimes taking my dad's computer magazines out of the mail box, reading them and forgetting to return them to him. He he. And the last magazines I have to include in this list is a few news papers. A morning paper called Dagens Nyheter (translation: Today's News. Yeah, the people who founded this paper had a really good imagination), Sweden's edition of Metro and two news papers called Aftonbladet (The evening paper, again, really good imagination) and Expressen (=express)

Do you remember the first book you bought for yourself? Or the first book you checked out of the library? What was it and why did you choose it?

 So, the first book I bought .. I really can't remember this. I know that I very often went book shopping with my grandma when I was about eight, but I really don't remember which the first book I bought was. And I can't remember which book was the first one I borrowed from the library.

Sooo, I'll talk about the first books I read and bought in english! (cause no, I haven't read english books ever since I started reading. I didn't even talk english when I started reading.) I think I started reading english books seriously about one and a half years ago. Before that I had read a couple of MG books just to try to prove to everyone that I could if I wanted to. But I preferred reading in swedish.

The spring of 2009 I read Twilight and fell in love. One of my parents best friends had them in english so he gave them to me when he heard that I liked them. And I reread them in english. That was when I discovered that I could read in english, that it wasn't hard at all. So when we were in Italy a few months later (and I had finished all the books I had with me from Sweden) I went into a bookshop to buy more books. And what do I find there, if not Stephenie Meyer's new book, the Host?! I flipped out. I loved Twilight, but wasn't involved in book communities the way I am now and just assumed that she hadn't written more that the Twilight series. So I bought it. And that's the first book I bought in english.
